Since this letter last appeared, Eoin has successfully maneuvered the transition from grade school to high school. He was fortunate enough to be part of the final graduating class of St. Cornelius School in June of 2016. A bittersweet time, but he and his classmates managed to do it up right.
Eoin joined the freshmen soccer team at St. Patrick High School and played again this year as a member of the JV squad. The head coach has some very ambitious goals for the soccer program, and part of that involves year round activities for the team to keep them in condition and to build and maintain team camraderie. Over this past summer, Eoin spent a fun weekend in Iowa for a soccer tournament and played in a summer league.
And soccer was just one summer activity for him. In addition to joining his brother as a caddie this year, he also spent a week in Missouri working with Habitat for Humanity as part of a youth group mission trip. And, he went with the family to Buffalo New York for the Irish football Continental Youth Championship. And, he camped with his Scout troop at Owasippe Scout Reservation in Michigan. Not a lot of summer down time for him this year.
When Eoin isn't being active, he spends a lot of energy following the updates on his favorite sports teams (Red Sox, Patriots, and Notre Dame, most notably). He can pretty much tell you anything you need to know about any NFL player or team. I'm amazed at how he keeps all of those obscure statistics in his head!
