In March, Sheila turned thirteen! Since transferring to St. Edward School in 2015, she has gotten involved in the basketball team, student council, the school musicals, her History Fair project on the Women of the 1916 Irish Rebellion, her Science Fair project on Food Allergy Education, and a foray this year into cheerleading. She does all of that on top of keeping up all her previous loves: reading, Irish dance, Irish football, Girl Scouts, and her true passion: sewing!
As an 8th grader, Sheila's also been going through a smaller scale verison than Conor of the school selection process for next year. There were thankfully fewer options to consider, because we told her that all-girls was the first criterion. That winnowed the pack down pretty quick. But she (and we) still did her share of open houses and shadow days. In early December, she took the entrance exam for Trinity High School in River Forest, IL and just before Christmas, her official acceptance letter arrived. Come next fall, she will be a Blazer.
The other major milestone for Sheila was her Confirmation in November, assisted by her cousin Roisin who drove in from South Bend to be her Sponsor. We returned the favor by driving to South Bend to see Roisin perform in "The Importance of Being Earnest," which was a fantastic show.
